I welcome you to the DRSMUN of 2023, by congratulating you for choosing to be the change-makers of tomorrow. We as a generation face challenges never heard of nor faced before.These challenges need inclusive, sustainable and creative solutions. I truly believe MUNs train you to look for these solutions. May these discussions help you hone your negotiation skills, broaden your perspective, teach you to collaborate, and help you empathize with various backgrounds. I know it looks like a tall order, but believe me, at the end of these discussions you will take away most of these values.
We, in our conference, expect you to embrace diplomacy and critical thinking throughout your discourse. More than winning the discussion and the accolades, we would like you to enjoy the journey you are embarking on. Seeking common ground when you do not agree with other delegates, learning to engage in constructive debates rather than a prejudiced argument, and keeping an open mind to learn from others’ truth. All of these are a few core values we would like you to learn from this process.
I as the president of DRSMUN for the year 2023 am confident you would prove worthy of our faith. It is my genuine pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you within the intricate realm of MUNs.You may wonder why I label this experience as a maze; MUNs are an endeavour that once undertaken, beckons you to engage further. Thus, willingly, you find yourself navigating this labyrinth of diplomacy, solutions, and discourse. But MUNs are not confined solely to these aspects. They are also a platform for socialisation, a perfectly acceptable facet.
Within these halls, you will encounter individuals hailing from diverse backgrounds, each with valuable lessons to impart and inspiration to offer as you traverse your journey. As I reflect on this, I’m reminded of a quote by Rumi that resonates deeply with me: “Be grateful for those who come, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.” Embrace the role your fellow delegates play in enriching your experience, allowing friendships to blossom and endure, spanning far beyond these three days.
At DRS, our mission is unwavering—to furnish you with unparalleled excellence, the very pinnacle of what MUNs have to offer. Our pursuit involves continuous refinement, all for the sake of the delegates who have entrusted us with crafting an exceptional MUN experience. The anticipation of the surprises we have meticulously prepared is palpable: a seasoned executive board poised to guide you and an enjoyable night of dancing and camaraderie.
